Grandma's Hands
Grandma’s hands were large and worn.
They were soft enough to comfort children,
yet strong enough to work in the garden.
These hands delivered babies, wiped tears,
And swatted misbehaved children.
Her hands were scarred,
Each scar commemorating the journey of her life.
Grandma’s hands were skilled
Which allowed her to be a midwife and to sew.
Her hands praised Jesus
even after she lost her 6-month-old to influenza.
These hands prayed for her children every night,
that they may be safe and walk with God.
In the end Grandma’s hands became weak and feeble,
until they were no longer able to hold on.
